WACO QCF-2 NC11440

This airplane bore S/N 3497 and was manufactured in 1931. NC11440 landed twice at Clover Field. The first visit was between September 16 and 19, 1934. The pilot's name is not clearly written, but it looks like Hilda Jarmuth. The airplane owner was cited as West Tyson, again hard to read. "Mines" was written in the arrival column of the Register, indicating the airplane arrived from Mines Field. Below, an undated photograph of NC11440, courtesy of Andy Heins, President (as of the upload date of this page) of the National Waco Club.

Note what looks like a nose-over accident at the left rear of this photograph!

The second visit of NC11440 was on Friday, May 24, 1935 at 3:25PM. The pilot was Dick Alley, who carried Private (probably) pilot certificate 24701. He arrived from an unidentified Los Angeles airport. The owner at this time, eight months after its first landing, was identified as W. T. Aviation Services ("W.T." probably abbreviating West Tyson?).

NC11440 landed once at the Davis-Monthan Airfield, Tucson, AZ on September 6,1933. Its full technography is online at the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register Web site at the link. Please direct your browser there to view another photograph.
