FORD 4-AT NC5578

NC5578 landed once at Santa Monica, on Sunday, November 1, 1931. It was flown by Tom Ward, who carried Transport certificate T7284. He carried two unidentified passengers. Their stated destination was Los Angeles. No origin was cited for the flight, and no purpose. Notably, from his pilot log books, we learn that Santa Monica Register pilot Henry Ohye flew this airplane as copilot 18 times during March-August, 1932. None of his documented flights brought the airplane to Santa Monica.

NC5578 has a good presence in our west coast Registers. For example, besides its visit to Santa Monica, it landed 26 times at the Grand Central Air Terminal (GCAT) during 1931. Its full technography and chain of custody is over at its Web page at GCAT at the link. IT also landed once at Tucson and is signed in the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register at the link. Both this and the GCAT link have photographs and links to additional information and images for NC5578. Please direct your browser to them for more.
